Die Erde ist umhüllt von einem Kokon von Satelliten, die permanent Daten, die wir live als Bilder sehen können, auf die Erde liefern.

„Der Globus ist auf unserem Computer. Doch niemand lebt auf ihm, und wir machen uns vor, dass wir diese Form der Globalität beherrschen.“ Dieser Satz der Literaturkritikerin G.C. Spivak steckt das Feld ab, in dem das Projekt GROUND TRUTH angesiedelt ist.

Es soll weder das „gute Analoge“ noch das „böse Digitale“ (oder um Fachtermini aus der Kartographie zu benutzen: Ground Truth und Remote Sensing) gegeneinander ausgespielt noch beides miteinander „versöhnt“ werden. Beides wird hingegen künstlerisch komplex miteinander kombiniert.

GROUND TRUTH
Earth is enveloped in a cocoon of satellites that continuously transmit data to the planet—data we can view live as images.

“The globe is on our computer. Yet no one lives on it, and we delude ourselves into thinking we have mastered this form of globality.” This statement by literary critic G.C. Spivak defines the terrain in which the GROUND TRUTH project is situated.

The aim is neither to pit the “good analog” against the “bad digital” (or, to use cartographic terminology, *ground truth* versus *remote sensing*) nor to “reconcile” the two; instead, they are combined in a complex artistic manner.
